Perched on top of a hill, right next to the heritage-listed Bishop’s house — the iconic Marian, Kuching’s first heritage boutique lodging house, has been painstakingly renovated with particular attention to, and concern for, retaining and salvaging all the interesting features of the building.
With its important history and timber architecture, a readaptive use of a former all-girls boarding school led to the creation of The Marian. The property now comprises 40 rooms ranging from standard rooms, family rooms and a 2-bedroom apartment. All rooms are ensuite and fitted with air-conditioning for your travelling comfort.
You will be captivated by the original dark timber floor and charming architectural features.
Our rooms are named after, and in honour of, former matrons and a headmistress (Betty Johnson, Thelma Cook, Mary and Caroline Sharp), founders of St. Mary’s (McDougalls) and the boarding house for younger kids (St. Nicholas).
